Many scientists have traced this upsurge to changes in the dietary habits of North Americans. The Clear Skin Diet is designed to help those who suffer from acne to understand what it is, why they have it, what it has to do with their eating habits, and what they can do to prevent it or lessen its impact. Research has shown that there is a strong causal link between certain kinds of foods and acne. These same dietary stresses also influence the level of hormones that cause acne. There is also a strong connection between the brain and the skin. When a person experiences anxiety and depression, acne-producing hormones are released, which can lead to poor dietary choices high in saturated fats and sugars. Most important, The Clear Skin Diet introduces the acne diet and lifestyle. Dietary requirements for protecting the skin are listed along with suggested food supplements when they cannot be easily met and summarized, as well as mind-body medical interventions that can influence acne hormones and lessen their impact. |

Click Here | Amazon.com: Acne: it's not just for teens anymore. Thanks to changing hormone levels, many women in their 30s and 40s (and some men as well) can expect to regain a part of youth they really didn't miss. It's not the curfew-it's the problem skin. Early on in The Acne Prescription, Dr. Perricone (The Perricone Prescription) repeatedly emphasizes that half his patients are adult women. And really, this book seems written specifically for them. He refers to acne as a systemic inflammatory disease. His three-part program aimed at reducing inflammation emphasizes widespread dietary changes generally based on the glycemic index of foods, taking a variety of supplements, and using specific topical applications. The diet features plenty of water, several servings of salmon each week, and lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. An extremely detailed guide to supplements offers an excellent education, and an illustrated yoga course provides a method of relaxation and gentle exercise. Few of the recipes from an extensive section are geared for novice cooks (almond flour pancakes with mixed berry compote, for example). If you're interested in curing acne problems from the inside out and are willing to make substantial lifestyle choices, you'll find this an excellent learning tool; in other instances, it may seem simply overwhelming. --Jill Lightner |

Paleo Diet Enterprises, LLC Paperback
 | Lowest New Price: $24.95
Click Here | Product Description: With 174 scientific references, The Dietary Cure for Acne clearly explains the ultimate causes of acne, and details a dietary program that will begin to clear up your skin within 30 days or less. Written by internationally recognized author and researcher Loren Cordain, Ph.D., this is the only scientifically documented program that directly addresses all four known causes of acne, and the only program shown to clear acne blemishes in a human clinical trial. In chapter four you will learn how The Dietary Cure for Acne heals your skin from the inside by preventing all four known causes of acne. You will learn how the foods you eat affect hormones called IGFBP-3 and IGF-1, and how that affects pore blockage. You will learn how the type of fat you eat can affect bacteria proliferation in your skin. And you will understand how an enzyme called ZAG, that normally works to help keep pores open, is inactivated when you eat certain common foods. Chapter six reveals the 11 types of food to avoid, along with a clear explanation of how that particular food promotes acne. The rest of the chapter provides a specific action plan. The diet is divided into two distinct phases. In Phase 1, which lasts 30 days, you will be attacking the causes of acne with every nutritional tool that can improve acne symptoms. By closely following the diet, your acne will rapidly improve. Phase 2 covers the next 3 months and beyond. Chapter seven is titled The Good Foods, has a sample menu and complete information on all the food that you will be eating on this program. After reading The Dietary Cure for Acne, you will understand how the right foods can prevent the pore blockage, excess oil production, inflammation, and bacterial infection that characterize acne. But most importantly, you will learn specifically which foods to eat, and which foods to avoid, so you can take action and get results. |
